Bern is the capital city of Switzerland, with a little over a million population; it is often overlooked in favor of Switzerland’s more known cities or near-by alpine villages. However, the capital combined with the neighboring alpine region offers world-class vacations with ski resorts, alpine landscape, cozy and recuperative spa hotels and foodie fascination, making it one of the top destinations for the winter. It traces its origins back to the 12th century. Bern has a very lovable UNESCO registered old town, a famous landmark called Zytglogge – a medieval clock tower, and was also Albert Einstein’s hometown for the first decade of the 20th century (you can visit his apartment). Bern is the perfect location to venture off to the renowned Bernese Alps: Gstaad, Grindelwaldand, Interlakken!
